Congratulations! You got the job! Now comes the challenge. How can you succeed and optimize your current place within the company? What are some things you can do to keep your job, get noticed and move up the ladder of success?

Don’t be late.

Always assume there will be traffic and plan accordingly. Even if you are paid hourly and cannot clock in early, be early and have another cup of coffee before work—or better still, go ahead and begin working before you are supposed to.

Dress appropriately. Always.

Be a team player—be a likeable person.

Stay positive. Teamwork isn’t just good for company morale, it also sets you up for greater success at your job. Teamwork brings together different points of view and allows for creativity and fresh ideas to flourish. Plus, you have trusted people you can fall back on for support, which means there’s less stress resting solely on your shoulders, which means you’re freer to take smart risks.

Strive to motivate others.

Cheering on your co-workers sets you apart from those who always see the glass as half empty.

Listen.

You have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Listen to your superiors, as well as your co-workers. Listening can provide you with an opportunity to gather valuable information.

Be cheerful when asked to do tasks

Even if the tasks are not necessarily in your job description.

If you say you will do something, make sure you do it.
